This required a purge...I wrote it when I was 17 and now I'm 22...let's just say I've changed a bit.
I'm Laura, I grew up in NJ, moved to the village for college, and recently migrated over to Park Slope, Brooklyn. I was a philosophy and anthropology double major, and both have really become part of who I am. I am now bringing that background to my studies in law school.
I love music, pottery (ceramics), art, reading, reading philosophy, travelling, and getting the NYTimes daily.
I'm a raging liberal; I rage liberally. Not to say that I don't respect conservatives, I respect anyone who respects me and who can back up his or her argument with fact. That said, I think that backing up conservative arguments with facts is a very difficult task.
I listen to entirely too much music (my iTunes library is crazy--diverse and huge) and watch entirely too much TV. I also LOVE to watch movies, but my attention span sucks, so TV is better for me (prolonged obsession + short time intervals = GOOD).
I don't like to identify or pin-point my sexuality; I think that defining oneself as straight, gay, or bi allows people who are uncomfortable with your actions to fit you into a little box defining you as "different" and marginalize you. I suppose I'd be best described as "queer" in the sense that I reject the normative idea or definition of one's sexuality for a more inclusive one.
I think too much, cry too little, and talk (or type) a LOT.
I'm serious (read: neurotic), but I really like to hang out with my friends and have tons of insanely fun times. (Does writing that I like to have fun negate the idea? Whatever. Yay fun!)
I love the fall & winter seasons most; if it's below 65 degrees (F) outside, I'm a happy person.
I use LJ as an outlet for my ponderings, rants, anxieties, and randomness. I like to hear other LJers' perspectives on, well, anything! I use LJ to obsess over things with people who obsess over the same things, such as: musicians, TV shows, neighborhoods, politics, philosophy, books, travel, or almost anything else.
Friend me. My journal is not friend's only, but I want to hear what you have to say, too! :D LJ is a medium through which we can exchange ideas, so let's exchange: it's the adult version of "show me yours and I'll show you mine."
